Paragraph

Tilt is conceived as a compact yet bold weekend retreat, designed for seeking a brief escape from the rhythm of city life. The house is intentionally minimal in scale, comprising only a living space, a kitchen, and a single bedroom, yet it achieves a strong architectural presence through clarity of form and precision of geometry.

The living room forms the core of the house, placed centrally as a transitional space, with the kitchen on one side and the bedroom on the other, creating a balanced and intuitive plan. Large glass openings on either side of this central axis allow light and landscape to flow through the house, reinforcing a sense of openness despite its small footprint.
The house is conceived with frontal and rear verandahs, which function as deliberate pause points; spaces of arrival, transition, and reflection before one enters the house. These verandahs are not treated as residual edges but as active social thresholds that extend daily life outward, responding to climate, culture, and community.

The plan is anchored by two strong spine walls, which organize movement and structure the spatial flow of the house. Embedded within these walls are built-in seating elements, seamlessly integrated into the architecture rather than added as furniture.

A defining feature of Tilt is the use of triangular glass canopies above the kitchen and bedroom, which draw in abundant natural light while adding a distinctive architectural character to the form.
