Paragraph
This farmhouse is conceived as a sensitive architectural response to multi-generational living, where togetherness and privacy are carefully balanced. The brief called for two generations to coexist within the same estate while maintaining a degree of independence in daily life. The resultant form emerges as two distinct residential blocks, each catering to a generation, positioned within a shared landscape yet articulated as separate entities.
The planning is structured on a 4 m × 4 m modular grid, which becomes the fundamental ordering system for the entire house. These square modules are strategically staggered toward a central open space, creating depth, visual interest, and varied vantage points across the residence. Entry into the house is choreographed through a large angular wall, which acts as a spatial threshold, gradually revealing the two blocks separated by a lush, staggered courtyard. This central landscape is conceived as a dense, inward-looking “green core,” allowing every major space to open into it, giving the impression that the house is immersed within a jungle-like environment.
Architecturally, the house derives strong character from its bridges and connective elements, which link the two blocks at the upper level. These bridges not only enable physical connection but also introduce scale, movement, and spatial drama to the composition. The volumetric articulation is further enhanced by sloping and tapered walls rising above the otherwise flat roof, particularly at the staircase blocks, which act as vertical markers and lend a distinct silhouette to the house.
