Paragraph
Inspired by the form of a turtle, the plan reflects organic geometry, while the Structure evokes the grandeur of a fortified wall. Its massive retaining walls create an impression of seclusion, shielding the interiors and fostering a sense of privacy and protection. Beyond this seemingly impenetrable exterior lies a heart that is open and alive. At its core, a central courtyard acts as a light well, flooding the interiors with natural light and warmth.
The Turtle House is structured around a hexagonal plan that anchors the architecture firmly to the land while allowing it to unfold outward through a series of pentagonal verandas extending along all sides. These peripheral verandas act as transitional thresholds between interior and exterior, enabling a seamless engagement with the surrounding landscape. One of these extended verandas gradually transforms into a swimming pool, reinforcing the fluid relationship between built form, open space, and water. The linear alignment between the courtyard, living room, and swimming pool establishes a strong visual and spatial axis, making movement through the house intuitive and uninterrupted.
The central courtyard, conceived as a luminous light well becomes the primary source of daylight and ventilation for the entire house. The planning of all major spaces radiates around this courtyard, ensuring that every room maintains a constant visual and sensory connection to this inner core.
