The goal was to design a lightweight, portable CPAP machine to compete with industry leaders like ResMed and Philips. Our scope involved creating a device that blends into home environments, intuitive, discreet, and visually refined. Inspired by the timeless design principles of Dieter Rams, we developed a sleek, minimal form that prioritizes aesthetics and usability, making the product feel more like a lifestyle object than a clinical device. The form draws inspiration from Dieter Rams iconic radio designs-clean, restrained, and purposeful. A dual-tone colour palette evokes a sense of vintage familiarity, reinforcing the product’s classic appeal. Materials include a blend of sheet metal and fiber-reinforced plastic for strength and precision. A matte finish ties the elements together, lending a quiet sophistication and premium tactility that elevates the product beyond the purely functional.
