Paragraph

Conceived by our client and collaborator Mannat, the book is a heartfelt tribute to Hachiko, her beloved dog, whose presence continues to resonate beyond his years. Narrated from the perspective of Hachi himself, the story unfolds as a simple, conversational journey- beginning with the moment he is brought home, and gently tracing the arc of his life through to his final days. Structured across four seasons, the book uses time not merely as a narrative device, but as an emotional framework. Each season reflects a distinct phase of Hachi’s life-capturing growth, playfulness, ageing, and eventual quietude with sensitivity and grace. While the tone remains light, intimate, and accessible, the narrative carries an undercurrent that lingers evoking a deep emotional response, particularly among those who understand the profound bond between humans and animals. At its core, I Am Hachi is guided by a simple yet urgent intent: to remind readers of the responsibility that comes with offering a home to another living being. In a world where animals are often voiceless and misunderstood, the book becomes a gentle but powerful call for empathy urging us to extend to them the same care, dignity, and affection that we seek for ourselves. The publication design has been approached as an extension of this emotional landscape. Conceived with fluidity and restraint, the layout works in seamless tandem with the illustrations, allowing the narrative to unfold organically across pages. Rather than imposing structure, the design responds to the rhythm of the story supporting its shifts in mood, pace, and expression. I Am Hachi is not just a story; it is a quiet reminder of the emotional worlds that exist alongside ours, and of the responsibility we carry in shaping them with kindness.
